DINA TOKIO'S MODESTLY BOOK (AND HIJAB DRAMA!)
The last book I read was Dina Tokio's, Modestly.
Yes, I bought her book but I swear I bought it looooong before all the drama about her removing her hijab/headscarf/turban whatever you want to call it.
Ok first the book. Honestly, it's an ordinary book. Nothing different. Lots of nice pictures and stories of how she grew up and became HER. DINA TORKIA..a once ordinary woman who shot to fame after becoming a fashion designer, blogger and You Tuber with over 2.4 million followers.
I really have nothing much to comment about her book. To be honest, I didn't even finish reading it.
Why? Because I am not her biggest fan and I really do not have the time to read her life story from page to page. The book also offers some tips and tutorials, as what she normally does in her you tube channels.
So why did I buy her book?
Because I liked the cover. Yes, sometimes PEOPLE JUDGE THE BOOK BY IT'S COVER!!!
Do you have a problem with that?
Another reason that probably would make more sense: I wanted to know more about her. I like to read about women who are inspiring to others. She seems to be an inspiration to many of her hijabi fans out there. So after "scanning" the book, I thought to myself, "Yep, why not. I do have some space on my book shelf that is probably functioning more as a dust collector. Don't they??
And so I read a couple of pages, flipped through the book to look at some of her nice pictures and said to mysef. "Ok, that's enough. Will continue some other time".
I never did. Not even after all the drama about her removing her head scarf.
What I did was watch her videos. New videos of her baring all..I mean her hair...Blonde hair.
Erm, not sure about her hair colour, though. Anyway, I guess everyone knows that she also has her own merchandise now, with her face and name plastered all over them!
Yes, I bought her book but will I buy her merch? Neine! (that's No! in German.)
And why wouldn't I buy?
First reason that definitely would make sense: I AM NOT THAT INTO YOU..., DINA.(again, I have nothing against you. The designs just doesn't quite appeal to me and definitely not keen of having your name spread across my chest,..... multiple times! No hard feelings, dear)
Second reason: I DON'T EVEN NEED A REASON.
Well, if you haven't heard about her book, her blonde hair and merch, well here they are!

So one fine day, if I ever bump into Dina Tokio, what would I do or say?
Congratulations Dina. You are named by You Tube as a Creator for change in 2017.
But I still won't wear your name across my chest.
No hard feelings, dear....
